Picking up right where they left off last season, Bishop Gorman continues to dominate high school football. As the reigning No. 1 rank on the DigitalSports National Football Rankings, the Gaels are off and running with three big wins against three of the nation’s best teams.
First, the Las Vegas squad hosted Arizona powerhouse, Chandler, in a 35-14 victory. The two teams battled back and forth, entering the final quarter at 21-14 for BG, but the Gaels defense prevented Chandler from making any threats in the fourth as the offense tacked on two more touchdowns for the win.
Then Gorman traveled to Utah to face Bingham in a game which juniors Tate Martell and Biaggio Walsh dominated. Martell threw and ran for touchdowns and Walsh rushed in two TDs leading Gorman to a 38-20 victory.
In their most recent win, the Gaels played Bellevue High School in Washington. In another huge performance from Walsh (15 carries, 165 yards, 2TDs), Gorman powered its way to a 28-0 lead by the end of the third quarter. Both teams reached the endzone once in the fourth, but BG’s substantial lead was never under any threat and the Gaels walked away with a 35-7 win.
Returning home, Gorman hosts California’s Long Beach Polytechnic on September 18. Long Beach has two wins in their first two contests and will look to upset the Nevada giants. Kickoff is at 7pm.
