Nevada witnessed a long awaited rematch of when Centennial traveled to Bishop Gorman to try to avenge its loss in the last year’s state championship.

Both teams came out hot as Centennial took a 19-18 lead in the first quarter.  The Bulldogs looked prepare to give Gorman, ranked 14th in the DigitalSports National Basketball Rankings, a run for its money.

After that opening quarter, however, Gorman put its foot down, establishing its defense and showing why they were state champions last year.

In two out of the three quarters remaining, the Gaels held Centennial to just eight points.  As the Gaels defense shutdown Centennial’s scoring threats, Gorman outscored the Bulldogs 55-31 after the first quarter.

Chase Jeter led Gorman with a game-high 14 points, along with 10 rebounds and four blocks.  Nick Blair added on 13 points followed by 12 points from Obim Okeke who also had seven assists.

This victory comes right after a 76-72 win over Findlay Prep, ranked 15th by DigitalSports and 2nd in Nevada.  Taking down two of the state’s best teams back-to-back shows that Bishop Gorman is prepared to face any team threatening to stop them from defending last year’s championship.

Key Players:

Chase Jeter- 14 points, 10 rebounds

Nick Blair- 13 points

Obim Okeke- 12 points, 7 assists
